Hi, I'm Brian
Cybersecurity Engineer and Instructor
As an IT and security professional for nearly 20 years, I've specialized in coordination, maintenance, support, and the security of multiple types and sizes of technology infrastructures. I strive to ensure the highest level of security based on current standards and regulations, while balancing that security with usability.
My extensive experience in multiple industries - managed services, legal, and healthcare - gives me a unique perspective on the needs of organizations of all sizes, and the unique technologies they use.
As a cybersecurity instructor, I've built multiple learning paths to help those who are new to the field learn the fundamentals they need to secure their organizations.

About me
I've worked in and with technology at some level since 1998, starting with computer sales and service at Best Buy (way before Geek Squad was a thing). Since then I've worked in helpdesk, server & network administration, and Exchange administration roles, as well as a field technician for Time Warner Cable. I've also worked as a cybersecurity analyst, eventually working my way up to Cybersecurity Manager in healthcare.
After so many years of doing cybersecurity work in healthcare, I eventually decided I wanted a break from the operations side of things, so I started teaching defensive cybersecurity topics at INE instead, and am still doing that today.
When I'm not staring at a monitor, I'm usually outside working on various projects or just enjoying the outdoors. I'm also a TTRPG enthusiast, currently running a weekly D&D campaign (that's on it's 3rd year) and playing in another weekly game.

Experience
Over 25 years of tech, IT, and cybersecurity experience. I've deployed new systems and solutions, maintained existing infrastructure, and ensured the security of organizations.
